The IT Department at Arapahoe County is centralized, so we are an integral part of a vast array of “businesses”, from the Sheriff’s Office to Public Works to the Clerk & Recorder’s Office. We pride ourselves on being a creative team that understands our customers’ businesses.
We are looking for an individual to join our business application support team. This team is responsible for supporting over 50 different server-based applications that support the different business units within Arapahoe County.
We are looking for a person who has a strong technical background, excellent troubleshooting skills, and loves to dig in and find out why an application isn’t behaving as expected. A successful candidate will enjoy working and collaborating with others, have a strong desire and motivation to learn, and always willing to share their knowledge with others.
This position provides technical support and administrative services for the County’s inhouse developed and purchased business applications through the implementation of best practices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to installation, configuration, patch, upgrade and maintenance of the County’s investments in the chosen business applications. Applies communication and problem-solving skills to solve issues related to the deployment and continued operation of business software.
May be responsible for the outcome of solutions, providing advice, guidance and assistance to team members and end user areas on matters related to the analysis, design and implementation of automated information processing solutions.
Provides technical expertise in the administration, maintenance, analysis, testing and implementation of purchased or in-house developed business application software. Defines project milestones, develops test data and applies technical procedures to prove logic and the application of programming instructions. Provides analysis of options and alternatives for application implementations and administration.
Assists in the development of business application roadmaps; assures roadmap alignment with enterprise strategy.
Develops high-level application architecture and solution design that is in-line with best practices.
Assists in the development of architectural designs for new business application system landscapes and improvements to existing system landscapes.
Ensures that the business software meets business requirements and goals, fulfills user requirements, and identifies and resolves system issues.
Recommends any additional hardware or software requirements needed for successful business application deployments, configuration, or maintenance.
Evaluates, installs, configures, and deploys applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
Collaborates with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of business software programs and applications.
Ensures that any application integration into County systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
Performs monitoring and troubleshooting, performance tuning and capacity planning of the County’s business application systems; installs and configures patches and upgrades as required.
Maintains and/or executes backup/restore and disaster/recovery procedures.
Periodically reviews and improves design standards to ensure current advances in technology are used; improves redundancy and maximizes uptime of all business application systems.
Works with vendors for vendor supported applications. Acts as the technical liaison between the vendor and internal customers. May do initial troubleshooting of issues before contacting vendors.
May develop technical and user instructions and documentation and may provide training on new or changed applications. May provide training on new applications or changes to existing applications for both customers and departmental employees.
May assist in the preparation of project plans and resource projections for all activities performed within the framework of a given project including defining project scope and preparing work plans for the project.
Utilizes the organization’s change management process across all affected areas.
Supports current IT Standards.
Continued professional development and education to remain informed of current industry development and technologies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Knowledge and experience with current Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) business applications, including analysis of features, installation, configuration, testing, implementation, and on-going business applications support.
Knowledge, skill and experience with current programming technology, such as database integration (MS SQL SERVER), client/server technology or cloud computing.
Knowledge, skill and experience with the usage of database integration (MS SQL SERVER), client/server technology and cloud computing.
Skills to design, test, document and implement applications either working with a vendor or with development staff.
Ability and knowledge to analyze and recommend business solutions to meet the County’s automation needs.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specification documents.
Ability to explain and discuss complex business application administration and configuration features in a manner that can be understood by non-technical persons.
Knowledge of and adherence to application security technology.

Post hire will require fingerprinting, a CBI background check and successfully completing bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System training.
Incumbent may be required at any point in time to be on-call to respond to emergency situations, special events or routine on-call schedules.
