Our client is a growing mobile technology company operating within the gig-economy. They use innovative technologies to build our apps that allow businesses who have urgent labor needs to source skilled workers within seconds so that they can be working within minutes. They also connect charities & non-profits with volunteers looking to give back!


They are looking for an Elixir Developer to come build something great with us. As part of the engineering team, you will work on the platform powering our apps to help workers and businesses connect. We’re looking for a self-motivated engineer who has a real passion for building and scaling infrastructure using technologies such as Elixir, Crystal, Kubernetes, Postgres, and machine learning. Every engineer has input into our product process and will have a real impact as part of a small, nimble team.

Job Description


  • Work with a cross-functional team to design and develop new features that will be used by millions of users
  • Collaborate with other developers to decide on reliable, scalable, high performance solutions and coordinate to execute and test
  • Ship production code according to projected timelines
  • Identify and fix performance bottlenecks
  • Write tests and perform code reviews to ensure that we’re shipping reliable, readable, and reusable code

Skills and Competencies

  • Exposure to or familiarity with a language (or framework) in the context of “backend” development such as Ruby (e.g. Ruby on Rails), Java (e.g. Swing), Python (e.g. Django), Elixir (e.g. Phoenix),
  • Exposure to or familiarity with a relational database such as Postgres, MySQL, or another RDBMS
  • Working knowledge of a source control system such as Git or Mercurial
  • Exposure to or familiarity of functional and object-oriented software design, development and architectural principles

Nice to have

  • Building APIs for internal or external applications
  • Experience with Elixir or another functional language
  • Experience with GraphQL
  • An understanding of what systems contribute to a deployed backend (e.g. database, api server, web server, etc)
  • Machine learning
  • Experience writing tests in some capacity (unit, integration)
  • Exposure to or familiarity with Scrum/Agile development principles
